We understand that some of you may wonder why we’ve moved away from reusable crockery. We’ve worked closely with our Waste Manager to consider all environmental impacts. While reusable crockery is often seen as the best choice, it requires extra journeys across the city to collect, wash and replace, which increases resource use and breakages. After reviewing the evidence, and drawing on lifecycle analysis studies, we agreed that recyclable cups allow us to serve drinks conveniently and sustainably without the added environmental cost of these extra journeys. This change is part of a wider programme to make our catering smarter, fresher and more sustainable. Alongside this, we’ve improved food presentation, expanded halal options, introduced healthier and more colourful menu items and made ordering easier with clear labels and simple bundles.
